At a stunning private estate in Cape Schanck on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, the property’s main lake had begun to experience issues with filamentous algae and aquatic weeds.

While the water remained relatively clear, algae was spreading across the surface and along the edges. As the lake was a central landscape feature—used for leisure, events, and as a picturesque focal point—the owners wanted a solution that would restore its appearance and improve water health without relying on chemicals.

The challenge was to create a long-term, natural and low-maintenance solution that improved water circulation, reduced algae, and enhanced the lake’s visual impact.

Solution

Installing a 5HP Air-O-Lator Carnival Aerating Fountain

To bring the lake back to life, we supplied and installed a 5-horsepower Air-O-Lator Carnival Aerating Fountain.

This high-performance floating fountain delivers powerful surface agitation and oxygenation, helping to circulate stagnant water and disrupt the conditions that encourage algae growth. 

Beyond its practical benefits, the fountain’s elegant water display added a stunning visual centrepiece to the estate grounds.

We also introduced a water treatment program, including:

Algae Lift—a fast-acting oxidiser to help peel and break apart the existing filamentous algae underwater. And, Biostim Powder and Tablets—to introduce “good” bacteria into the water to break down the dead algae and sludge, as well as reduce nutrient levels to prevent the algae returning.

Together, the aeration and biological treatments provided a complete lake management solution, combining immediate aesthetic results with long-term water quality improvement.
