Northern Victoria Livestock Exchange had a dam infested with blue-green algae and duckweed. The duckweed was clogging the intake pipes and the blue-green algae, being toxic, had poisoned the water. Hundreds of animals drank from the water during auctions so getting it clean was a high priority.
We installed a Vertex sub-surface aeration system and an Air-O-Lator Professional surface aerator. We used Vertex as the workhorse, providing the most aeration, and the Air-O-Lator Professional was added on a timer to mix the water near the intake hose.
The clients also started applying a standard dose of Biostim to the dam monthly. Within weeks the dam was completely free of both blue-green algae and duckweed.
